Hippies tend to be those from the late 60's to mid 70's that were a part of the Free Love movement. Hippies also were a movement that was against several government institutions of the time period, were against the Vietnam War to varying degrees of righteousness, and moreover was a response to the Civil Rights Movement and the death of JFK, as well as the rise of popular music through The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, and the Byrds.
