only thing I can really do now is download a movie to my macbook and airplay it to the apple tv if there isn't any internet.

I think casting from computer to TV requires being connected to the same wifi

maybe download a movie to my macbook and use a USB-C to HDMI cable to the tv.

Yeah I had to get an HDMi adapter for my laptop like that

i wonder what the quality looks like for that tho.

my windows laptop I have has an actual hdmi port on it so i can use a regular hdmi cord but macbooks now only have the usb-c ports.

It should max out at whatever your laptop can handle so not 4K I'd imagine

But from my laptop to my new TV the quality is great for NJPW for example which is 1080p max no matter what you watch it on

Ok I did an experiment

I unplugged my router so i didn't have any wifi airplay didn't work.

but i could download a movie/tv show from itunes to my macbook and then use my usb-c to hdmi cord and play it on the tv just fine.

so if i ever wanted to watch a movie at a friends house or something I could just download the movie to my laptop and take it over, kinda nice.
