Sting wrestled Triple H because that's the match HE wanted. He said so on his doc which was filmed before he went to WWE. He said he wanted to wrestle H. He also said later he reciprocated the desire because he never got to wrestle Sting because he was in WCW. As for why Trips went over, because despite saying it wasn't about WCW, it was about WCW. Vince can't let WCW win anything.
