TEW keeps you honest. You can’t just sign whoever the hell you want, you can’t just make someone world champion just because. If they are not popular you gotta build. Yeah you can “build” them up without it, but you got no system other than yourself then. That’s just how I feel.

This is flagrantly untrue. Without naming names I’ve seen people do the most unrealistic shit ever in TEW.

And in fact the excuse given for the roster choices is specifically because it’s TEW so they don’t have to be.

Yes but you may also lose out on talent if you're unable to outbid the competition or if a wrestler has built in loyalty to someone/somewhere, or if the wrestler does not compete in your region. For example, lots of Japanese guys have loyalty to their home promotion and won't sign exclusive deals elsewhere. And then, you may run into the issue of them not wanting to work in North America either. Making them impossible to sign.

Most of all it comes down to the mod maker to keep that kind of stuff more in check. But I also think most of them don't want to restrict the players too much. So as a player you kinda just gotta use some self-restraint. Which not everyone can do.

Sounds like like they out the Japanese contracts a lot more thoroughly than independent company contracts.

All I was saying is while there is some contract stuff in play, I’ve seen plenty go completely ham on roster accusations that are so entirely unrealistic.

And if that’s how you want to play, fair game.

I try to research contracts and real life situations when considering stuff for a BTB so it can be done without TEW, but with or without TEW you have to want that realism. It can be done either way. I do think it must be fun to build up lower rated wrestlers if you have the patience, though, on TEW. I probably don’t.
