Stable was too over as heels for WWE's tastes is what I gather. Broke them up before Mania to try and make Lashley more hateable, and ensure McIntyre was cheered. That's really just my theory though.

Seems highly possible given WWE's recent track record of thinking the best way to get their top faces over is to have the face the most unbearable opponents possible
