oh shit, you can now die by firing squad in South Carolina. Apparently they are running out of the lethal injection chemicals so they said fuck it let's just shoot 'em

Probably because of people claiming lethal injection doesn't always work so well and claim it is cruel and unusual punishment.

i know plenty of cases of people that have tried to kill themselves and it didn't work.

Well it does in a firing squad. A lot of people who try to kill themselves end up with "hesitation wounds" meaning out of reflex they move the gun and it just grazes them or inflicts a non fatal but serious injury.

With a firing squad they have like 6 officers with a rifle. Some of them have blanks, some of them have real bullets and they don't know which. That way nobody knows who really killed them.

Well the idea behind it is nobody feels guilty or bad about killing the guy because nobody knows who had real bullets.
