I ordered a cheap dolby atmos system from vizio for $300 and then after it was shipped I got interested in the Sonos soundbars so I ordered the sonos beam which is $400

Never had a full home theater system but my old roommate's soundbar was great

soundbars have greatly improved since I had mine in like 2008

it was a small sony one with a sub and honestly, it sounded pretty bad.

like the tv speakers were just as good and the sub I honestly don't even remember it doing anything.

my friend has the new Vizio Elevate soundbar which is about a grand and it has speakers on the sound bar that spin upward if the content has dolby atmos. it's pretty cool but overkill for my place.

Yeah his was just a bar with a sub but they were both pretty big

When he moved out a semester before me I realized how shit our TV speakers were

i think im gonna return my vizio and keep the sonos and then when the bigger sonos soundbar becomes available i'll put the smaller one in my bedroom and the bigger one in the living room. I honestly don't even care about a sub. I had one set up and it was set to like 5% volume just so i don't piss off neighbors

Yeah I never really cared about it either

I don't need a lot of base I just want good, clear sound

sonos sells a sub separately that's wireless. they also sell the rear speakers if i want to upgrade later.

yeah, bass is cool but it's not really needed.

i'll want the extra speakers eventually, i like the surround
