Tbf it was a ripoff of the nWo calling themselves the Elite only a year or so earlier. That's why I hated The Elite in NJPW/ROH/AEW. It's such a tired name. Which is why I'm glad they don't really use it as a stable name anymore. Elite is fine for the company name.
