one shots are like a single chapter of something dedicated to like an interaction, at least in fanfic terms

In comics it's usually a bigger comic book that tells one story that isn't necessarily related to the main story going on, so basically the same thing

A lot of times they'll be like flashback stories or something

I remember the Sandman only had one during it's run but it told the story of the main character's son who you hadn't heard of before, then a bit later in the series they brought that charcter in

That's sorta what it's like in fanfics as well. One-Shots are common terms for one chapter shipping stories

Yeah I loved the MCU one shots, so sad they didn't keep those up

The fucking Mandarin one was crazy good lol

The first one kinda sucked (the consultant I think was the name) but it was just to establish some continuity fixes for the Hulk movie which I appreciated a ton lol
