They have pretty much eliminated drivers ed in schools here. You have to be a Senior or Junior to get it. One county only has 1 drivers ed teacher for 3 highschools.

Yeah, Driver's Ed for us was just so we could get our learners permit.

To get a license to drive to work and school before 18 you had to take driver's ed. Otherwise you just waited until you were 18 and got your full license. I wanted to be able to drive myself to school and back instead of getting rides from people or having my parents do it.

My state is offering the knowledge test online now. Has to be taken on a computer with a webcam and it takes a picture at the beginning of the test and at random times during the test.

When my brother took his test they didn't do the webcams but after every few questions they would legit call him for voice verification :heston or like he had to dial a certain number to do it or something

We still had to do an actual driving test regardless though, I don't think that's skippable in Texas unless you're like over 25 or something

There are restrictions on anyone under the age of 18 in my state. You can get your full license at age 16 but you can't drive past 10, can't have more than one non family member in the car with you at a time, etc...

Not to mention I'd already taken one and had a regular license for years but somehow they "lost the record of my test"

yeah that's right dak. the Learner's Permit did let you drive anywhere but yeah you couldn't be out past 10 and had to have an adult in the car if you weren't driving to school or work.
