It was essentially WWF vs NWA for a bit until WCW decided they were too big for it. Not sure the timeline too well but it woulda been after Ted Turner bought them from Jim Crockett I think?

Crocketts had TBS and were doing what Vince was going to do and was absorbing the NWA anyways......Vince just did it better.
