Makes me not root for them at that point because their own idiocy is what's causing their problems

But a good example already is when Christopher got jumped by those Russian gangsters and he thought it was because Tony found out he got Meadow that crystal meth. Instead of doing anything rash, he just went to Meadow to figure out if she told Tony, which she hadn't, and so he was able to deduce what had really happened instead of crashing out and doing some dumb shit.

Being dumb is fine but behaving completely unrealistically so that you can advance the plot is what I don't like to see

yeah this is a common issue in New shows I agree. Forced conflict that could be easily resolved

I found that was a very common issue on the live action shows geared towards young teens and I got very annoyed with them often as a kid bc of it lol

I find knowing the truth as the audience when it's a simple misunderstanding and having to watch characters act on that is super frustrating for me lol

I also have a barometer for most modern entertainment in how they work in technology to their plot lol bc sometimes people really jump through hoops to explain why a phone call can't be made when they really want a classic misunderstanding trope worked in

lazy writing and a happy accident more likely I'd guess but that's a fair observation lol

Those early HBO shows were always the best for having realistic reactions to most things, all the best ones like the sopranos always do a mix of personal and professional lives too so you get the whole depth of their lives
