I gotta say, the structure of games these days is really obnoxious to me In NBA 2K for example, there are so many different points and meters to fill up, and so many different tiered rewards systems, it's not really confusing once you've played the game for a bit but it's definitely unnecessary. And I find things like season rewards are kind of just a way to make good on the many ways they try to milk you of your money. Like in 2k, there is a free version of the season pass and it does give you some nice stuff over time, and a lot of it is limited edition or season-specific but, I just feel like it's only a thing because they know they've made the game impossible to succeed at, or even really have fun with, without spending a bunch of money buying VC, to use to upgrade your player's attributes, buy clothes, etc.

Like, if you could just gain VC at a good rate by simply playing the game, that would pretty much make all the "free" rewards useless, because you could simply put that VC you earned towards things that would be fulfilling for you with your player. But if they let you gain the VC at a non-insulting rate then it's gonna stop people from spending real money on the VC, or season pass level skips, or any of the other several things you can (and almost have to) spend money on in the game
