Most people who join the police force are not corrupt, just idealistic. It's the system in its entirety that's corrupt.

This is probably the closest that Fascists have ever gotten to taking power for themselves in the US (I know Trump won in 2016 but Democrats still had safety nets in place at the time)

Also Trump wasn't as dangerous back then, because it was still seen more like a circus... also I just think the puppet masters in the background themselves were surprised he actually won and couldn't capitalize from it, because they didn't have all the right pieces in place

Of course not... a lot of police forces are such tight groups though, that you probably have to make a decision pretty fast, when you fall into one of those. Either you are with them, regardless of what they're doing, or you gonna go through hell working there.

would need to fundamentally change the way we teach and view policing to really make a positive impact but change is scare to most people and also people will cling on to power when challenged

In a wild piece of irony, despite the corruption in the Japanese legal system, the police force of Japan is probably one of the best examples of how it can work. But unfortunately America has too many guns out in the open for police to be unarmed.
