Tbh I usually go for culture/science/diplomacy victory every game, even as Rome.

The funniest thing I did was I was struggling to keep the second to last Sumer city when I'd conquer it bc they kept revolting and I was losing money so I conquered it then traded it back to Sumer for a shit ton of gold and then waited until the peace treaty I had with them ended to conquer their other city (while conquering Sweden in the meantime)

this is actually a funny and common strat - its good to keep ur happynmess up too - like if you want to destroy someones city but not keep them or wreck them, u just keep them and trade them to someone else, either for money or even for free and often they end up abandoning them, or funnier, u just build next to em and culture bomb until they just convert to u anyways lol
