I always just thought it was bc not a lot of books are released in a week so being the top seller the week you're released is not as impressive as it sounds

I mean... also possible, but I'm pretty sure it's an open secret that lot of publishers or authors buy a lot of their own books themselves

the thing with the best seller thing too, does it mean ppl are actually buying the book

or that booksellers bought a bunch of copies to sell lol

because im guessing those book selling stores have to you know, buy the books to resell them

I think it tracks sells from the booksellers not to them

unless they are given to them and then they only keep a portion of profit but that sounds dumb

But like Looch said the authors themselves buy a ton

Like on Parks and Rec. you put out a book and nobody wants it until their news person slaps a book club sticker on it and it sells out
