We were going through Grandma's old stuff and we actually found a bunch of stuff about her parents. Grandpa "Chink" (that is literally what they called him) was a ww2 draftee and a member of a huge industrial union during the depression

It's my mom's side lol my direct ancestors were like all born when their parents was 18-20 as far as I could find

I have literally pleaded with my parents (my mom especially) to stop calling him that lmfai

They were east Texas farmers for 200 years what else was there to do

At least with my grandma, her name was Bootsie because she wore tiny boots when she was a kid

I mean I understand it being difficult to stop calling someone that when you did it your whole life and now the word means something else. Also I assume this person isn't Chinese (or any sort of asian) right? THat'd make it even worse.

We call my grandpa on my mom's side "Dud" bc my uncle had a different dad that died when he was really young and when he was like 6 they were discussing what he should call my grandpa bc he knew he wasn't his real dad but he didn't wanna just call him by his first name when the other kids didn't and my grandpa told the 6 year old he could call him whatever he wanted so my uncle decided on "dud" bc that was "kinda close but not really dad" and then everyone in his life still calls him that to this day

Could even have been like a college nickname that he forgot the origin of himself bc it was so random
