idk if it's new to just this game or not but you can now have a secondary weapon stored on your mount. so while fighting you can press right on the dpad and you'll run to your mount and pull out the other weapon so i have long sword and light bowgun.

i rarely use the bowgun tho so i think i might switch to hunting horn and use it randomly in multiplayer. it's a support weapon that while you hit monsters it makes noises and certain combos of noises will buff your party.
