He had no problem enslaving or having his soldiers kill fellow Romans, but he did not like the idea of killing Roman politicians, even as he celebrated their deaths in his triumphs.
That was his argument really, he was like "they're becoming too much like Rome so we need to take out the threat now" while also arguing they needed to be made more like Rome lol
Really what did them in was getting too big, obviously, but I wonder how things might have turned out if the Gallic and Palmyrene Empires stood strong, or the Tetrarchy actually worked lol
