It's really one of the most modern aspects of him, "these Gauls just need a bit more Roman influence and liberty, one more strike"

The Gauls were already basically Diet Romans at that point too lol

That was his argument really, he was like "they're becoming too much like Rome so we need to take out the threat now" while also arguing they needed to be made more like Rome lol

Really what did them in was getting too big, obviously, but I wonder how things might have turned out if the Gallic and Palmyrene Empires stood strong, or the Tetrarchy actually worked lol
