If you have to default to anything just default to a couple years before release bc chances are they were just making game for then

It's intentionally designed to feel timeless though which is why there's a lot of anachronisms

Rockstar was less concerned about having a set time period and more making the game just fun overall

I mean that's the case with most of their games even if they do have a set time noted lol

If you treat it as parody it's easily to reconcile a timeline

Bc that's all GTA and Bully are not trying to discredit them at all. I do find red dead less straight parody tho

That being said, the game is generally agreed to take place between 06-07 (since there's Autumn, Winter, Spring, and later a Summer

Then there's the question of if you think Bully is canon with the GTA Universe (It's shown on a TV show in GTA IV so it's anyone's guess)

I don't remember the context of it being shown and I actually watched more of that GTA tV than anyone should have lol

But I like working everthing to be canon if I can

I also don't think there's been a bad Rockstar game since 2000

Okay the Baird's Tapir was scaring the fucking Okapi that the game tutorial started with in the same habitat and it doesnt list them as compatible so things are looking good for my tortoise experient

I have my complaints with how they've handled online but story modes been my favorites
