today was the day but it said my OG name is unavailable. turns out they hold them for 6 months so now I had to add an X like an edgelord so its Brandn1785x

Holding is normally for in case the person wants the name back lmao. What’s the point of holding it…

I think it's just mainly for like big wigs if they change their name it gives them 6 months so some rando doesn't swoop in and steal their name

but yeah, it's probably unnecessary but also it's on me for changing the name in the first place

just read if you are a twitch partner the name will never be available to anyone else

For non-Partnered accounts, if you changed your username and would like to change it back, unfortunately we cannot facilitate this. You can change your name again in 60 days, but your original name will not become available again for at least 180 days.For Partnered accounts, as stated above, Twitch Support can assist you once with changing your username.
