I'm listening to a long form podcast about the German invasion of Russia in WWII and I thought I knew most of the million reasons why it was a disaster but Russia having wider train rails than most of Europe being a big one is probably the funniest

they destroyed all their trains so Germany couldn't use them on the rails too, that part I knew, I just didn't know the reason Germany needed them was bc their own trains were useless in the region

This is a much more recent topic than usual too but the older ones I've listened to have really made me wanna play more Civ bc it's given me a crazy appreciation of how much of a decent simulation the game really is for early civilizations. I think I can win easier with my new knowledge lol

I don't think I'll buy at launch, console versions are way glitchier

I feel like I have a way better grasp of how to manage my early armies now after listening to the Rome/Carthage war series lol and how Rome specifically managed their armies compared to Carthage overextending theirs
