The last season is unnecessary. It brings them all back and the hospital becomes a school and it has an all new cast with the main cast in the background

Joking aside, the worst thing is that the final of Season 8 is simply the perfect ending for the show

Then they make a ninth season, which was originally planned as a spin-off, iirc, with an atrocious cast of new characters, just to bring the old cast in the moment they saw how bad it was received
