The point was always for Mariah to be the star and she's always thought she was the true one

It's not so much playing Toni as it's doing what it takes to get screentime and becoming more over than the star bc of it. Toni should also get bitter first about Mariah's cheers, there should be lots of layers

It's not quite a "mastermind" story, but the Stat/Stoke promo after her turn pretty much was exactly that. The whole "I was pissed when you got the Title that I wanted" and then we had months of storyline, before Stat actually turns right after Willow loses the title... which makes Stat look like she thinks she can't get her title back from someone like Moné... ergo it makes Stat look bad.

Mariah also isn't planning to turn on Toni, she's planning to become the #1 star. In her mind she'd accept Toni willingly stepping down and being her understudy, that just obviously won't be accepted by Toni
