Games leaning more and more into graphical fidelity rather than just fun gameplay, and it's become something of a graphical arms race to see who can put together the "best looking" game.

yeah i mean its always had that to a degree but weve hit a bit of a point wheres its like yo lets make sure these games can actually run lol

It still looks like a beautiful game even though it's like 22 years old, and it doesn't require extreme graphics to run fast, just a decent cpu and decent graphics card.

ats my opinion on the matter. 4k was a huge mistake. tvs being 4 k is hell for consoles
