our government is investing $600 million to help expand the NRL into Papua New Guinea (like 3-4 hours flight from Sydney). Tax payer funded. Literally nobody asking for it or finds value in it. Just because PNG love the game doesn't justify the spending of that amount from tax payers given the cost of living crisis that we are in

Flying over that reddit thread, I guess most people argue that since it's COVID money it is supposed to be used for things like economy, tourism industry etc. ... and most of these idiots also argue "They gave 7 million to make 80 million, so what's wrong?"

theventire world rn has 1st world countries with cities full of homelessness because ppl can't pay rent hikes. 2 ppl making decent salary can't qfford to buy homes or have kids. It ain't the time to give money n tax breaks to billion dollar industries while your people are cold and starving.
