They were and they weren't. Most of the guys who were on WC had been watching since the 80s and early 90s, so they're like old school.

I think a lot of people's concerns had to do with the fact his in-ring style was incongruent to his gimmick.

These circle jerks just happen a lot in wrestling, people will be disliking an act and start clowning it with initially funny jokes, then a bunch of people want to fit in so they and make their own jokes too but it's not funny anymore lol
