All wrestling fans know that promotions hit and miss on creative ideas all the time. Some characters and gimmicks are a home run, while others strike out almost immediately. During a recent episode of Rasslin’ with Brandon F. Walker, AEW President Tony Khan admitted even he's missed on a few things.

“If we make a mistake, I like to think we do a good job pivoting off it,” noted Khan. Then he went into one character that he wasn't a fan of when it was pitched to him and he probably should have known better than to push it, but tried and changed course pretty quickly thereafter.

“A great example I think would be, and he would be totally fine with me saying this, I was not as into Broken Matt Hardy as other people were,” explained Khan. Saying that both Hardy and Chris Jericho were trying to talk him into the idea of Hardy teleporting around the arena, he noted, "Dude, I’m lucky these guys are even there. . . But the idea of teleportation, I was just like, ‘Alright. I’m just lucky you guys [are here].’ At that point it was a miracle the show was even coming off."

Good for you TK...admitting to a bad idea.

"Dude, I’m lucky these guys are even there. . . But the idea of teleportation, I was just like, ‘Alright. I’m just lucky you guys [are here].’ At that point it was a miracle the show was even coming off."

This aspect tho :pull

I hope he's learned he has to reel in the reins and taking control instead of "being lucky these guys are here".

If he hated the Hardy teleport scene as much as his IWC brethren then I imagine that sobered him up real quick to that "I'm lucky you're here" stuff :heston

They are mostly pretty good at pivoting from bad ideas I'd say....but I'm gonna be mad the day they do it to one I actually liked and argue to my death bed that it woulda got over with more time :garrett

MJF vs. Guevara is a PPV caliber match. I know AEW values their TV ratings a lot but I think they coulda put this one off a bit longer and gave it the PPV treatment.

I don't disagree. They have 4 supershows in july, unsure why they didnt do it there. unless this is only the teaser and we get some fucky finish to lead to a gimmick match finale?

edit: 4 supershows with fans, too. unsure if the june 30th show has fans or not or is live?

I think they're presenting it as their big finale at Daily's Place before going back on the road
