Selling when it's opening the can of worms that is asian women's wrestlers being bullied and called school girls, little girls, and pedophile fodder is something you could easily condemn in like the shortest tweet. Almost as if there was a beloved joshi wrestler who took her life because of online hate/ bullying. Her selling that for an interview is what's bad about all this lmao..

This is kind of proving her point. People just think that based off some tweets, you can infer her intentions or how she feels about something. This is why she wants to talk in a longer format so she can give a more nuance opinion.

I don’t know about you, but I’m certainly not going to tell an Asian woman how to feel about the presentation of another Asian woman in her line of work. She’s entitled to how she feels.

But again, you’re acting like she wasn’t dogpilled into giving her opinion on Riho because people didn’t like her opinion on death matches.

We agree like 90% on this. And as you mentioned, exactly that not going to tell an Asian woman how to feel about Asian woman. I can say that being intentionally passive / vague about your feelings towards racial stereotyping is kinda not a great thing to do even if it is your own race/ethnic group. Again it's fairly easy to just say that "I think calling asian woman school-girls is not okay", but to each is own.

For full context, the first tweet of that thread was just setting it up, nothing really anything from it.

I mean Gail Kim being into "believable wrestling" and having such an amazing feud with the most unrealistic of opponents is like the most pot call the kettle black moments ever.

I also can def be a perv and am a straight man, and have never once felt that Riho's presentation has ever been sexual or that she was dressed with intent to be like jailbait or some shit. Literally a crazy fucking take on her presentation and more self-reporting on how people view women than anything.

I’ve seen the tweets but looking at them again it seems to me like she’s attacking the presentation and playing into the stereotypes and that’s her issue with it.

And you and I are perfectly capable of disagreeing with her observations on her presentation, but that’s my point that she wasn’t refusing to denounce the racist stereotypes, she was calling out what she believed were the racial stereotypes.

Like you I also am a pervert so I never have a problem with cameramen being pervy, but I’ve seen the clip that she’s talking about and the camera did a couple times go up her skirt and what not.

I’ll be honest, I watched that clip that Gail shared in the original first tweet of people falling off the balcony through plate glasses or whatever it was thinking to myself who could possibly enjoy this where’s the art? Now, of course I don’t think that my personal taste means that GCW shouldn’t exist or whatever. But if someone ask me my subjective opinion on it, I would say I think it is dumb. Sorry.

Which is kind of funny because I do sometimes like a good hard-core match but there’s some line to it and I couldn’t describe to you what it is, but I can find it when I see it’s been crossed.

This is literally what happened to her. She gave one opinion on death match wrestling, and because she shared that opinion with Jim Cornette people attacked her on unrelated opinions that Jim Cornette had and asked her to give her opinion on it as well. Gail’s opinions on Riho are also based on her intitial assessment in 2019. I’m sure if given a chance to see her more recent stuff her opinion will evolve.

I don’t think Gail Kim is grifting at all, but I do think she’s crashing out and because of that she’s not providing herself any wiggle room. Which is why I think she should take her own advice and just wait for an interview to give a better thought out response.
