My point was more so I don’t think Hanger was the plan until they couldn’t keep him heel. Clearly I don’t know for sure what the plan was but it felt like Darby

I think around when he started the Daniels feud is when they made the decision/change to Hangman. I think turning Hangman face was when they either locked in Hangman or changed to Hangman

There was no pivot because Darby was never locked in and I think we also need to accept alot of aew news and booking is held very close to the vest (and all the leakers went back home to WWE where they belong )

Darby was most certainly a very likely option and probably even a frontrunner to take the title off Mox in their planning last year, especially with their (definitely not finished) story. Also maybe it was by accident, but with how they wrote him out, they kept that possibility open. Hangman was most likely not their first option, until some time shortly before the Owen, I'd say. ...or like I said in the Dynamite thread, maybe even until shortly before the Owen final.

And who fucking knows... maybe they went away from Darby BECAUSE that talk about him (possibly) getting the Title next got out. Also a possibility. We'll probably never find out.

This sums it up for me tho I do think they had plans on it being Hangman a lot further back. I deffo think initially it was meant to be Darby, he was the main guy fighting them., he was the one Mox beat for the shot, he had the story with needing to get past Claudio. But I think Hangman's stuff has a clear through line since after world ends, I THINK that's when they called it or at least him being part of the end of this as a good guy. In hindsight I agree with the people who say Will would not have fit because he never really was a part of the war till a lot later.
