Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissie, aka General Adnan, has passed away.

News of his passing spread on social media on Wednesday. He was 84 years old.

Al-Kaissie was born in Baghdad, Iraq but moved to the United States to play football for The University of Houston in the 1950s. He later transferred to Oklahoma State and became a standout wrestler.

He'd begin his pro wrestling career in the area in the late 1950s, wrestling as a Native American character named Billy White Wolf. He spent the 1960s and first half of the 70s wrestling in territories such as Hawaii, the Pacific Northwest, Texas, and Australia before landing with the WWWF in 1976.

He won the WWWF Tag Team Championships with Chief Jay Strongbow in December 1976. However, they ended up vacating the belts that May when Al-Kaissie needed neck surgery.

Al-Kaissie joined the AWA in 1981 where he would wrestle as Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissie. During the eight years he spent in the promotion he was involved in memorable feuds with Nick Bockwinkel and Sgt. Slaughter.

In 1990, Al-Kaissie returned to WWE as General Adnan and aligned with Slaughter and The Iron Sheik, then known as Colonel Mustafa, as Triangle of Terror. The trio wrestled the team of Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior in the main event of SummerSlam 1991.

Today I learned according to Adnan's autobiography, his father wasn't just an Imam (a high ranking Islamic priest), but he was also good friends with Saddam Hussein.

Seems like he lived a hugely eventful life even outside of Professional Wrestling.
