Games of Thrones confirmed by Telltale Games
Coming in 2014.
by Martin Gaston on December 7, 2013

Telltale Games has confirmed rumors that it is working on an episodic adventure series for Game of Thrones.

A teaser trailer for the adaptation was played during this year's Spike VGX awards. The theme to HBO's TV version of the show was played, and the HBO logo was also displayed. While the TV series looks to be the main inspiration behind the game, Telltale says it will be "taking advantage of all the fiction" for its adaptation.

No details were given about what characters or locations would be featured. A 2014 date was shown in a teaser trailer. Telltale would not confirm whether it would be featuring the series' voice actors or likenesses in the game.

The game will be similar to Telltale's previous adventure games, but big battles--a key part of the source material--were hinted at.

Alongside Game of Thrones, Telltale is also working on a second season of The Walking Dead, A Wolf Among Us, and the just-announced Tales from the Borderlands.

Hell yeah! The first season of The Walking Dead game is one of the greatest things I've ever experienced, so a Game of Thrones game done in a similar fashion? I'm so down.

Telltale Game of Thrones Project is 'Multi-Year, Multi-Title' Deal
by Luke Karmali DECEMBER 10, 2013

The episodic Game of Thrones project Telltale is working on is planned to continue for several years, according to a statement from HBO.

Rumours of the fantasy-themed collaboration surfaced last month, though were confirmed this weekend at the VGX Awards. Now, an accompanying press release has shed more light on what to expect.

The project is decribed as a "multi-year, multi-title partnership between Telltale and HBO Global Licensing, targeted to premiere digitally in 2014 with an episodic game series for home consoles, PC/Mac, and mobile devices. Specific platform details are yet to be announced."

The implication here is that, as is the case with Telltale's highly celebrated The Walking Dead series, new seasons of the unnamed Game of Thrones project will be released each year. How these will tie-in with events in the TV show and books remains to be seen.

If the idea of a Telltale-designed Westeros isn't your cup of tea though, never fear. The developer also unveiled another project this weekend: Tales of the Borderlands, made in collaboration with Gearbox Software.
