Former WWE Champion teased for Day 1

Fightful was able to learn of internal chatter back on Friday that the company was close to nailing down an appearance from a former WWE Champion. After it was reported, Triple H added credibility to the rumors, saying “stay tuned.”

It was noted that Fightful haven’t learned what their baseline or qualifications of “WWE Champion” would be, but as we read it, it appeared to be just as it reads, as opposed to a former Hardcore Champion or something of the like

No talent or creative sources that we’ve spoken to know who will be revealed as the person. As of early afternoon, the person was designated a full segment mid-show.

The report also noted that they asked, and were told that, “it wouldn’t be Mercedes Mone.”

It was also noted that The Rock was in Pasadena for College Gameday. That is just a couple of hours from WWE RAW’s location this week. It was reported that “when we brought that up to a WWE higher up, they said we made a compelling argument, but wouldn’t confirm or deny.”

Normally I'd always say surprise is better and they can definitely still "afford" the surprise as in they won't be hurting for viewers for this episode so they don't have to announce in advance, but it'd have been nice to be able to speculate today before the show more

That'd be amazing. If that was the case don't even tease it. But the problem is who he starting an angle with on RAW? Cody? Punk? Rollins?
