Josh Grispi was released from the UFC in early 2013 after four consecutive losses in the promotion, and after light of a recent story from the Taunton Daily Gazette came to MMA headlines today, it doesn't look lke we'll be seeing "The Fluke" in the octagon anytime soon following.
Grispi is currently being held on $100,000 bail and faces domestic abuse and assault charges. He was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his wife twice over the span of four days, including allowing his pitbull to maul her. The pitbull left Grispi's wife chewed up, and is currently recovering from the attack.
Officer Richard Harvey, who arrested Grispi went on record to call it the "worst case of domestic violence he'd ever seen." but there was more. A pot farm along with weapons and ammunition were also among the search police conducted while responding to the incident.
Grispi is now charged with two counts of assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of violating a restraining order, animal cruelty, malicious damage to a motor vehicle, drug possession to cultivate marijuana and improper storage of a large capacity firearm and rifle or shotgun near a child.
Grispi was most notable as being the first scheduled title defense against Jose Aldo, before the champion withdrew from the bout due to neck injuries and he was matched up against Dustin Poirier who defeated Grispi in his divisional debut. After losing to Poirier, he then proceeded to drop three in a row to George Roop, Rani Yahya, and Andy Ogle before ultimately being released from the promotion in February 2013.
