First Poster For The Iceman Arrives
Michael Shannon is in a killer mood

Source: Cinema Teaser (Via The Playlist)

In case you haven’t been following the film’s slow-cooked development, no, The Iceman is not the continuing adventures of Val Kilmer’s narky pilot from Top Gun. It is, in fact, the strange-but-true story of mob assassin Richard Kuklinski, and the first poster for the film, showing Michael Shannon in character, is now online and can be viewed below.

Shannon plays Kuklinski, a man who led a strictly separate double life. To his wife Deborah (Winona Ryder), he was a loving, attentive family man and business type who was gainfully employed. But his other existence was something quite different: he specialised in untraceable killings and got his nickname thanks to his habit of freezing his victims post mortem to keep them from the prying detection of the police and forensics investigators.

Chris Evans is co-starring as Robert Pronge, who helped teach Kuklinski the ways of the assassin, with Ray Liotta as a mob boss. Ariel Vroman is the director and co-writer who dragged this one to the screen based on Anthony Bruno’s book The Iceman: The True Story Of A Cold-Blooded Killer and filmed interviews conducted with those who knew Kuklinski.

There’s no word on a release date just yet, but it does look promising, not least because it lets Shannon rock a creepy beard, which makes him oddly look a bit like Timothy Olyphant.

I saw a bunch of the interviews with this guy (I think they were called The Iceman Tapes) and he was pretty insane. I remember one story where he told his wife he was going out jogging, left the house, ran like three blocks, strangled someone to death, stopped at the store to pick up milk and brought it home to make french toast for his wife!
