I have a point to make to people that think fire arm laws SHOULD'NT be in place.

They claim that putting a restriction/law/ban on guns and other fire arms will go against the Bill of Rights. Basically saying they aren't going to passdown any law/restriction/ban that was originally or was put in the Bill of Rights later on (More than double of the original 10 were added later on)

Now, the only Bill of Rights law to get shot down by the majority was Prohibition. Now the idea was stupid to think they can just take all alcohol and destroy it with out worrying of illegal trade that can become a black market giant and it will come back any way. Well back to the point, In 1920's Prohibition was overridden by the majority.

Why did I bring this up, is yes Bill of Rights has been overridden by the majority. So I don't think that's a viable excuse.

Some facts I found:

  1. 1. In America, there are approximately 270 million firearms possessed by civilians, and only 897,000 carried by police.
  2. 2. Approximately 20% of gun owners own 65% of the guns.
  3. 3. The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms reports that about 5.5 million new firearms were manufactured in America in 2010. 95% of it was for the U.S. market.
  4. 4. Close to 33,000 Americans were victims of gun-related deaths in 2011.
  5. 5. In 2011, 10.3 in every 100,000 people in the U.S. were victims of gun-related deaths.

Not sure if Shadow or Jose Tortilla.

you speak for the general public? My point wasn't even about more guns = more violence, which I also agree on, my point was 100% on the fact we cannot remove the guns from the general public at this point.

I agree.

Guns = bad

But it is far too late to start taking them away.

Again, nobody is suggesting tomorrow we ban guns. It takes steps and the ball needs to be started rolling somewhere.

I can picture someone in the 1800s saying "slaves = bad, but we can't just take away everyone's slaves.."

shit has to start somewhere. You're not going to undo years and years of shitty gun control overnight, but you can start regulating tighter moving forward.

Okay, I can agree with that. Honestly, they should start by better enforcing gun laws. Do something to get some of the unregistered guns off the streets. The only reason I think guns are okay is because criminals have them, and as long as they have them - people should have the right to defend themselves and their homes. I am more of a katana gal myself though.

D'z shared his plan for safer and more effective way to stop the gun problem, or deplete most of it.

What are you thoughts on how we can do such a thing to ban fire arms securely?
