I was out all day yesterday, so didn't have time to post what I thought. Most of you already read what other people thought, so I'll keep it short.
-I got there about 30 minutes late, missing the first 2 matches. We were too lazy to find our seats, and where we were standing was better than 10th row near the entrance stage. So we stood right under the Box Seats, the one we were at was the NOAH box (Pretty sure it was)
-Pissed that I didn't get to see Omega or Hero wrestle.
-First match I saw was Steen & Generico vs Delirious & Jacobs. Good match here, but things didn't get super exciting until the end. Afterwards, Jacobs yelled at Delirious. Sucks for AOTF.
-NYC Street fight was brutal, a really good match. Eddie Edwards has no charisma, but he's good in the ring. Strong is way smaller than the last time I saw him. Pretty cool spots with tables breaking. lots of fighting on the outside, but all of the big spots happened in the ring. I think Richards (or Strong, don't remember) did some sort of F5 off of the apron to the floor, which was sick. Go is amazing, he probably had the most personality in his team. Finish was OK, with Go tapping to the crowbar. Hopefully there's more Go Shiozaki next year.
-Sasaki & Nakajima vs the Briscoes was another good match, but it wasn't as good as the street fight. Mark was really limited in this match because of his already injured knee, so Jay did most of the work. Sasaki is an animal, but he took about 1 bump in the first half of the match. Nakajima is a beast, he's really smooth in the ring with his kicks. At one point, he did about 6 Superkicks in a row to the corner while a Briscoe was falling to the mat. I don't have a problem with the Briscoes winning, but what happened after the match means we won't see them for awhile.
-Mark was attacked after the match by the American Wolves to write him out because of his injury. Steen & Generico, and the Anti-SNS team came in for the save. Steel Cage match sounds pretty sweet, and it's the first time Cary's been mentioned in a promo ever I think. Albright is bland on the mic, he sounded so lame.
-Intermission. They're coming back 3/21, so NYC doesn't have the Anniversary show this year probably.
-Black vs Aries was good. Pretty back and forth match. They look so similar, but Black is like a foot taller. Black is ridiculously over as a face. It was a really quick paced match, and I'm surprised that Black didn't kick out of 1,000 finishers like he usually did. Aries slipped off of the apron accidentally before going for the 450.
-After the match, Jacobs came in and turned on Black. Aries got in on the beating too. Black was bloodied, and he was pwnd by Aries & Black. The fans went wild after this. I don't like this move and new direction at all, I'll talk about it later. After that, the Fan Incident happened, but I'll mention that at the bottom.
-McGuinness vs Marufuji was amazing. Some really good chain wrestling and strategy, with Nigel on the arm, and Marufuji working Nigel's neck. Marufuji did a Shiranui to the floor, and Nigel did a Tower of London to the floor in this match. It was a really hot match, everyone was into it. Nigel did 6 Lariats in the match. He really needs to find a new dramatic ending, the Rebound Lariat is lame.
-Jerry Lynn confronted Nigel, asking for a match right there. Nigel escaped through the crowd. I have a weird feeling that Lynn will win the ROH Belt, and I don't like it. They're really playing Lynn up to be a legend, and using the Wrestler movie to tell his story.
-Nana got a bigger pop than Jerry Lynn. I really want to see what they're going to do with him, maybe he's going to return as a face?
-Danielson vs Morishima was BRUTAL, probably the best match I've seen in the past 6 months. Everyone knew Dragon was going to win with the match as a main event, but it still was crazy. The way both of them hit each other was just unreal, there weren't any strikes that were pulled. Both of them fought back throughout the match. Morishima is just a beast, and how he was able to keep up in the match was nice to see. Towards the end of the match, Takeshi brought out a chain, but he got tied up in it by Danielson. With the chain behind his back, Morishima still was killing Danielson with big boots and knee drops. Danielson coming back was great, and the 20 Elbows with the chain was brutal. Great, great match.
Other Stuff/Fans
-These 3 fans were kicked out next to the entrance ramp during the Briscoes match. They pissed Strong off after his match, so that's why they got kicked out. I remember them from all of the past shows I've been to, and they've said the same stuff every time. Sucks for them, because they weren't even the worst fans, they actually were having fun, not being malicious like other idiots.
-The Aries incident with the fan was unreal. I saw a little bit of what happened and how the stuff started. The idiot was smaller than Aries from what I saw, so that means he's tiny. He was talking shit about Aries the whole show, and probably said something personal that set Aries off. Aries was standing on the ramp, being a heel, mocking the fans. I saw the fan lean over the guardrail far, and he struck Aries. That's all I saw, because everyone stood up and the students/security came rushing to the entrance ramp. I did see Paul Turner run to break things up, but not how he took Aries down.
-The fan was an idiot. And he's an idiot if he's pressing charges, because if you provoke someone by hitting them, you'd better expect that you're going to get hit back. What an idiot.
-Ernie Osiris passed by the aisle a couple of times, and he was in complete character, which was pretty funny.
-Go Shiozaki and Eddie Edwards watched the second half of the show from the back. One thing I noticed about Go is that he's always watching and studying matches, even back at his debut at Eye of the Storm.
-Chris Hero has an awesome beard. It's weird seeing more than half of the ROH Roster with some type of beard, I want to see some more variety.
-Cary Silkin was all over during the show.
