Fightful: potential new (again) opponent for CM Punk

Punk going to have instant regret when he feels one of those Jay White chops for the first time :hayden3 But on a serious note, that sounds awesome.

I love the sound of both the Joe and Jay feuds for Punk, especially the promos. Jay is a really fresh direction I'd enjoy.

I honestly can’t think of a bigger dream program for Punk than White. Perhaps Omega because of the Best in the World monikers or Adam Cole because I know Cole and Punk would be Magic in the ring, but I think Switch and Punk will top all of them on the mic.

all good thing come to those who wait, Jay didn't build his empire in a day in Japan either.
He faced Tanahashi at the Tokyo Dome in his debut post-excursion and then won the US Title- from Kenny a month later. In AEW he has feuded with... Ricky Starks and was in a... battle royal in his first PPV match. I'm sure he will get his due eventually but they definitely could have picked a better program to immediately establish him as not just another toy in the Tony's box.

Cole vs Punk would set the standard for a no-impact, fake looking match, and I like both guys lol. They both have very weak looking offense and neither is particularly athletic. I just can't see them meshing well at all.

That's the thing though, against who? Every main eventer was busy and Jay came in when most of the ppv was already halfway built storyline wise. I also think it's a bit easy to say ''post excursion'' , because it kind of forgets that NJPW sent him on excursion to build him up then had had plans to build him up after he came back.

Ricky Starks was also just in a feud for the world championship and won a feud vs Jericho. AEW's equivalent to Tanahashi is probably Hangman Page (?) and he's kind of busy right now.

Thirdly, Jay has had plenty of midcard feuds in NJPW and NJPW also doesn't have weekly tv. its really apples to oranges imo, and not really a fair comparison. I get people want Jay to do well, but he wasn't coming in and feuding for the world title right away one montha away from a ppv and with no build up. That was never happening imo, and its never been how AEW operates, ever. No one gets a rocket push upon entering the company, thats not how it works there.

He’s about to feud with CM Punk. I think he’ll be fine.

he also didn't have a faction to usurp so he had to start from scratch in AEW. give the Switchblade some time to execute his devious plans people! :p
I think Gold is the real BC anyway.

I’m willing to give Finlay (and Gedo) a chance on the new direction in Japan, but I don’t know half the members now lol

at the very least, it'll be the "real" BC USA. But I feel you, I still get a weird feeling Jay is simply "allowing" Finlay to rebuild a younger BC in Japan and that it's all secretly under his watchful eye and only Gedo knows this. #fantheory

also @Hayterade you have a lot to catch up on from NJPW this weekend! BC has expanded, and the Tongans are officially in the g1, so AEW apperances are a GO as possibilities (they aint going to wwe anytime soon now)
