Fightful: Adam Page Is No Longer Kenny Omega's Planned Opponent For AEW All Out

Meltzer reported this in the Observer too btw this morning and I'm buying it but not that Punk will be the challenger for the record.

I'm not sure if it's the right move or not but theyre in such a really weird spot timing wise. Do I want Hangman to win at all out but be overshadowed by Punk and Bryan joining the company? Definitely not, and that might just be unavoidable regardless.

On the other hand they run the risk of Hangman not being this hot in 6 months or whenever they pick it back up.

Overall it just sucks for Hangman really. I really wish Punk and bryan coulda came in earlier. Kenny defended against OC and Pac at a PPV bc they were holding off on Hangman for All Out, easily could have been Punk or Bryan and the timeline for All Out could have stayed the same. But I dont want Hangman as Champion and Omega vs these guys being what everyone wants to see over him. And that might not happen, maybe I'm underrating how good and over Hangman actually is

Personally I like to see Punk come in as a Heel or at least a talent who is on the middle rather than a Face. He could wonders with so many young guys especially the babyface side like Allin, Jungle Boy, Page just to name a few. I do wonder why do this and stretch this out that is the money match that people want to see and I'll all about momentum with talent whether it's a title win or when to push them to get that opportunity and this was the moment for Page and he got clipped just like that. It still pissed about that decision from that great opener from Dynamite but hey AEW has been good with decisions making all the right moves so I trust them enough to know theirs a longer plan for Page to get that title shot I guess we'll have to wait for now.

I still think Punk gets Darby at the PPV anyway so I buy Hangman not challenging but I really think they might just go with another placeholder thing like OC and Pac bc I think they just don't want Hangman to lose to Kenny but also are no longer ready for Kenny to lose the belt yet.

That's the timing issue to me, they want Kenny to defend against the new guys in big title matches but also don't want Hangman losing.

If that's true though, I say fuck it and Hangman can still lose as long as he eventually wins it down the road from Kenny.

Christian was talked about being a high ranked contender during his match and I've expected him to get a shot too, but always thought that'd be a big time TV match

As much as I love Punk obviously I really hope they don't abandon growing their homegrown stars. Punk doesn't need to be hotshotted to a title for any reason. His name literally carries him and he doesn't need the title to be having big matches or making big moves.

Hangman seems like someone they've put a lot of work in building up for the big one, and I hope they don't just drop it.

His character is pretty much failing on the big one. I know he's hot atm, I just don't think Kenny is done telling his own story, either. Just keep having Hangman get screwed over and I think he will be fine tbh. As I said in my earlier post, there's a guy he can go beat to REDEEM himself :)

Could also just be a red herring though, because after losing his title shot on Wednesday this is kind of a no shit headline lol
