Fedor Emelianenko, widely regarded as the best heavyweight mixed martial artist of all time, is thinking about testing the light heavyweight waters, according to Fighters Only.
"The Last Emperor" is on a two-fight losing skid, which is unfamiliar territory for the stoic Russian, who basically went an entire decade without sniffing a legitimate defeat.
But back-to-back losses to Fabricio Werdum and Antonio Silva apparently have him thinking about other options, including a drop to 205 pounds and a fight against newly-crowned Strikeforce division champion, Dan Henderson.
It's a dream match up that "excites" Henderson:
"I would love to have that chance to fight Fedor. I think that would be the ultimate challenge, and that's what excites me."
It's important to note that no official statement has been issued, and no official decision has been made, about Emelianenko -- who was historically an undersized and soft heavyweight -- making the move south.

Wouldn't mind seeing it happen, I don't think Fedor is done all togther, but his chances against any top HW isn't that good, especially with his fight style. Move down to LHW would be good for him and SF, cause to be honest there is no one worth anything for Hendo to defend the belt against.

Now Fedor is in a place now where he has to find away to stay relevant among current day fighters. A weight drop to Light Heavyweight will help him. He is a smaller Heavyweight that could make the cut to 205, I don't see a reason why he couldn't at least attempt it. A fight with Dan Henderson would automatically be a big PPV...... somewhat considered a "Dream Fight" only because both are legends of the sport.

Ass backwards decision by Strikeforce, giving him a title shot straight away after 2 losses makes the company look weak as fuck.

They did it with Brett Rogers too, just dumb shit.

This x100

I guess earning your championship matches with wins is a lost cause when it comes to Strikeforce. Brett Rogers got haymakered like never before and TKO'd by Fedor yet his next fight was for the Heavyweight championship against Overeem.... I don't get the logic considering they could have even given Fedor the shot and had Rogers fight Werdum first.
