Fedor Emelianenko, widely regarded as the best heavyweight mixed martial artist of all time, is thinking about testing the light heavyweight waters, according to
Fighters Only.
"The Last Emperor" is on a two-fight losing skid, which is unfamiliar territory for the stoic Russian, who basically went an entire decade without sniffing a legitimate defeat.
But back-to-back losses to
Fabricio Werdum and
Antonio Silva apparently have him thinking about other options, including a drop to 205 pounds and a fight against newly-crowned Strikeforce division champion,
Dan Henderson.
It's a dream match up that "
excites" Henderson:
"I would love to have that chance to fight Fedor. I think that would be the ultimate challenge, and that's what excites me."
It's important to note that no official statement has been issued, and no official decision has been made, about Emelianenko -- who was historically an undersized and soft heavyweight -- making the move south.
