This is something someone asked me to do for another place so I will post it here and see what you guys think:

Sheamus and AJ Styles are both young rising starts in their respective promotions. Sheamus the current WWE champion and AJ the former TNA champion are really trying to solidify their legacy in professional wrestling. But who really is the best of the two? Let’s find out:
Highest Popularity
This one definitely goes to the Phenomenal One. He’s been around since the first day and has been on top ever since. While Sheamus may be the WWE Champ, ask around to non-wrestling fans who Sheamus is and they might not know what you’re talking about. At least a few may say that AJ Styles rings a bell. Not only that, Sheamus, once again, has only been on the seen for a little over a year. AJ has been “The Phenomenal One†for 8 yrs. Seems like a long time doesn’t it? Well it is. AJ will be a household name in the next year or two (if he doesn’t lose his head with TNA). Sheamus will be too (depending on if he can stay in the main event scene) but AJ will get there quicker.

Best Move Set
When it comes to the ring, Sheamus and AJ are like night and day. AJ brings the fast-paced high flyer while Sheamus is the more powerful ground and pound type. Both are decent in the ring but as far as entertainment goes, AJ gets it but if you want to debate about overall better in-ring skills. It’s all Sheamus. Without crazy flips and whatnot, AJ doesn’t have much. He has indeed improved his psychological game in the ring since his recent heel turn but he still gets a little too spotty at times which gets him the win here. However, Sheamus has a lot of in-ring talent for a guy that hasn’t been in the business too long. Unfortunately, you smarks are all about FLIPZ~! So the winner is AJ.

Worst Ego
This one is actually hilarious. Apparently it’s who has the worst ego meaning who gets the least backstage heat. This category goes to Sheamus. Ever since the Hogan/Bischoff regime, AJ has been all over the news reports bashing the way TNA has been running things. It’s evident on screen that he has taken a backseat recently. Now on the other hand, Sheamus isn’t so innocent. I don’t know if anyone remembers the Yoshi Tatsu story but to make a long story short, Sheamus, DiBiase and Tatsu shared a hotel room. Apparently (and I’m a little rocky on the story), some argument between Sheamus and Tatsu occurred about some kind of protein shake thing/blender/dirty. Sheamus throws the thing at Tatsu but misses and Ted is all like “hey bro stop being a douche†so Sheamus steps to Tatsu to bully him but actually gets his ass kicked. That would have won AJ the category had AJ not be in hot water by management now. Plus, Sheamus has Triple H as an endorsement.

Best Mic Skills
It’s “LOOK FELLA!†versus, “THAT’S A LADY!†Anyone with half a brain knows that this isn’t hard to decide. Well let’s beat around the bush anyways. When Ric Flair became the mentor of AJ Styles, AJ started hoopin’ and hollerin’ like Naitch did. Beforehand, AJ barely picked up a mic at all and when he did, he wasn’t that great. Sheamus on the other hand is excellent on the mic. I love when he says “FELLA!†But anyways, yeah, even in FCW, Sheamus would cut little shoots after his matches and I always thought he was comfortable on the microphone and he sounds so convincingly threatening. AJ has a lot of work to do in this category. I think with decent mic skills, he can elevate to one of the best in the business but its holding him down. The same way it does John Morrison and Jeff Hardy. Not as bad as Shelton (because god knows he’s horrible) but AJ needs to be more comfortable on the microphone.

It seems as though we have a tie so I’m going to incorporate a tiebreaking category:
Heel Heat/Face Pop:
Ok so basically since both AJ and Sheamus are heels atm, I’m going to go with Heel Heat. Now sadly, when AJ was a top heel on TNA, he still didn’t generate the heat Anderson did and AJ had Flair. The heat you heard during an AJ promo was heat for Flair. You can’t count that for AJ. In his previous heel run, most of his heat was due to Captain Charisma and the Olympic Gold Medalist. Not much came from AJ himself. Now when I watch RAW, I see that behind The Miz, Sheamus gets the most heat out of everyone. Which is good for a champion. Why shouldn’t he? He took out HHH in April who has yet to come back since. He put Mark Cuban through a table. He defeated John Cena. He defeated Randy Orton. He has done a lot of “bad†things since he came to RAW. The fans hate this guy. At least you can hear a few fans cheer for The Miz. Not Sheamus. The guy pisses the crowd off just by walking backstage. AJ never gets that kind of heat. Those dumbass Impact fans cheer for the heels and faces. The only guy that gets decent heat really is Sting and let’s face it, he won’t be there by the end of the year.
