I stopped here. They should give up draft picks, young, cheap potential superstars for guys whose ceilings are known, and won't last very long. And they should do this to get to the 8th seed. Have you had a concussion recently?
And I still
: at "knowing how to win." I know how to win. Be talented.
What draft since 96 and 03 have had multiple superstar or all star potential players in it? We aren't talking about an amazing era defining class coming out this upcoming draft.
You don't building a winning culture on pure talent. If you did, the Clippers would have been perennial contenders dating back to 2000. You build a winning team by getting an all star level talent, veterans who are battle tested and can be a locker room presence, and filling out the bench with younger guys who play hard and know their roles.
Reke isn't an all star talent yet, and both he and Cousins are immature locker room presences by multiple accounts. They both need someone to help lead them and show them the way. As a second and third option behind a proven all star they would be in a better situation.. As that star's level of play slips theirs should elevate over time to more than offset it. Those role players will know what it is expected of them, what they need to do to win, and how to play the right way. In short, you would build winning habits and make that franchise mean something again. You also would have the MLE to improve and it is just as important as any 1st round pick to winning teams as guys will take less to place for a winner and team that they think is close to contending .
Adding in another draft pick to a locker room where Reke and Cousins are the leaders and main influences is just dumb because they don't know how to win or how to lead. It is counter productive and only leads to them being known as Clippers North.
