God I hope this Phil/Kobe thing blows up. PSYCH, I think you need to forward that post you wrote along to Phil, because he's blaming Kobe for "screwing everything up."

http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2011/1/3/1910684/kobe-bryant-phil-jackson-lakers

hehehe
Whole quote from Phil:
“We get behind early on in the third quarter on some stupid plays — poor passing, poor transition defense — and then Kobe has to screw up the game and start energizing the team by going one-on-one and that takes the rest of the guys out as a consequence,” Jackson said. “That didn’t bring us back in, but it did give us a little run, we got the game back a little bit but we couldn’t sustain it and we just went right back and made the same mistakes again.”
That Kobe quote is misleading as well as he was asked would practice correct their problems on FSN.

You really need to watch and know the context before you pass off information, so as not to make an ass out of yourself, buddy

Full Quotes from LA Times and actual interviews you can see (not selective reporting)

Kobe agreeing with Phil:
"He was right," Bryant said. "I totally broke the offense, but I did it intentionally because I felt like we needed to get something started because what we were doing just wasn’t working. I tried to kick-start it, and sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t. When it works out, great. When it doesn’t, I take the criticism for it but I have thick enough skin to be able to do it."
Kobe saying Pau and Ron have to get use to Phil:
“First of all, when you’ve been around Phil for as many years as I have, we all understand that he likes coaching publicly,” Bryant said. “I think it’s important for the new guys to understand that — Ron, Pau, guys that kind of have issues with that. That’s how he coaches. It’s fine. Just let him do his job and go about your business.”

That "full" Phil quote didn't say anything my selection didn't say. Cute, though.

Halfway through the 2nd quarter, and I already have Kevin Love penciled in as the honorary RONDO of the night.

Don't bull shit me

Yours stopped at "that didn't bring us back in" and ignored "but it did give us a little run, we got the game back a little bit but we couldn’t sustain it and we just went right back and made the same mistakes again.”

Yeah, they made the same mistakes again because Kobe screwed up the offense. That's exactly what he fucking said. Of course he got them closer when he dominated the ball. What the hell else could Phil have been referring to when he said Kobe "screwed up" the offense? Christ.

My take ~

He said we started the quarter and made mistakes in out offense. Kobe's hero complex kicked in and he tried to win it on his own, and that brought them back. Then when he got pulled they made the same mistakes in the O again because they over-relied on Kobe for so long that they were lost without him.

Chicken or Egg.
1) You can say Kobe going Kobe Ball gave no one a chance to get a rhtyhm and caused them to lose because he made them over rely on him just to get back in a game and this team should be above his heroics by now at least for regular season games versus Memphis.
2) You can say that Kobe going Kobe ball was the only reason that they didn't get blown out by 40 because no one had a rhythm when he had only took 6 shots and was feeding players the first half and opening minutes of the third and the game was clearly slipping out of their grasps, so he did what your star is supposed to do and try to win it by himself like he has done many times in the past before.

Summary : Damned if he does and damned if he didn't

Okay. So. The stuff Phil Jackson said that I didn't point out. It added nothing to the quote I referenced. Thank you.

It adds to the context and was a whole quotation. You took part of a quote and made it a smaller quote under the guise that the statement stood on its own, when it didn't. The sum of the whole, isn't the same without all of its parts.

I shouldn't have to post every boring quote around the interesting part. What he said was self-explanatory. Stop apologizing for him.

The second you posted "That didn't bring us back in" you should have attached the rest of the sentence very sentence that the phrase began, instead of acting like said quote ended there. It is just a cheap way to spin something.

It would be like me quote Doc Rivers when he said "We have never lost a series" and leaving out the qualifier that he places with it in, "when healthy".
