Someone else just came to mind....Charlie Haas

He was slated to be the Next Big Thing (behind Lesnar :08:). He was placed in Team Angle upon his debut. Team Angle's first WWE PPV was NWO 03, and it was Kurt, Shelton, and Haas vs. Benoit and Lesnar. Team Angle was going to the top of the tag team division, they were handed the Tag Titles around a month after they debuted. They won at their first WrestleMania (Team Angle vs. Rhyno and Benoit vs. Los Guerreros). Team Angle was put into a big fued with Los Guerreros going into Judgement Day until Chavo got injured at a house show. Haas was probably the star of the Ladder Match at Judgement Day (Team Angle vs. Eddie and Tajiri). When Angle turned face after WrestleMania when he returned, Team Angle broke away and became "The Worlds Greatest Tag Team", and it finally looked like Haas would get his big break, but WGTT never went anywhere, and later split (without a good Shelton/Haas match). Haas was stuck on Smackdown, jobbing to nobody's until someone thought it was a good idea to team him up with Rico.

Haas could've been a main eventer if he had gained some mic skills, but he never got the opportunity. If Angle hadn't had his terrible face turn, Team Angle couold've stayed together for a while longer, and we could've seen a Team Angle vs. Kurt fued.

A couple more minds came to mind...

Ahmed Johnson: THis dude was awesome when he debuted. He had the power and intensity of the Ultimate Warrior. He was throwing people around left and right and he was pretty over. I thought he could have been, what Lex Luger wasn't for the WWF. Never really got put in a good position to be pushed. Eventually was floating around too long, and had a poor heel turn, and that was all she wrote. Then he popped in WCW, about 20 lbs heavier, and wasn't what he once was.

Ken Shamrock Another dude, that i thought had star written all over him. He was a huge UFC star upon entering the wwe, and really seemed to fit well with the wwe style. Not real sure where the wwe dropped the ball on this one. Maybe one too many meaningless fueds.

The 2009 wrestler....

Colt Cabana Still a young wrestler, but i had him as a future WWE champion, and really a guy that could have lead the wave of new talent in the wwe. I still have no doubts he will have a very sucessful career, however i doubt it will be anytime soon in the wwe.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Kennedy. Sure he has had his moments over the years feuding with Taker to winning MITB, but I viewed this guy as a possible replacement for an Austin or Rock (not quite as good, but still a viable replacement), and boy is that ever laughable now.

I don't think all hope is lost on Kennedy. I can't see him being the next Rock, however he could still be a major player in the wwe. They did give him a movie role. Now he just needs to stay healthy, and stay off the drugs.

Damn, Shamrock was cool.... IC-Champ, KOTR... Typical route to success at that time... I guess ya right... He spent far too long in that enforcer role for The Corportation.
