Elite Wrestling Society. At the beginning of 2001 World Wrestling Entertainment began the year with a few releases. One of those releases came to a shock to many in the Sports-Entertainment community. Charlie Cosgrove, 37 was told he was no longer needed backstage in WWE even though he was one of the most respected members of the professional wrestling world. He was not on good-terms with Vince McMahon which didn't quite help the situation and when he received word he walked into McMahon's office, sat down and expressed and criticized all of McMahon's wrongdoings he thought were bad for the company. He then stood up and walked out. Many people; not just in WWE, admired what Cosgrove did because not many people had the guts to do such a thing and it was the first real time someone had really told Vince how they felt. Cosgrove was also right about what he said. Cosgrove was sick of seeing McMahon tell the fans what they want and wanted to revitalize the wrestling world. He wanted to change things, he wanted to give the fans what they want. Cosgrove wanted to take on the WWE and show McMahon that he's wrong.
The Birth of EWS
Cosgrove was at home, just thinking. Thinking that maybe he could challenge WWE. He had the money, he had the contacts. 2001 was the beginning of something. Something big. Throughout the next few years big things would happen that gave this company a meaning. Everything worked, it was almost as if it was meant to happen. Vince McMahon's long, long run at the top was in danger and could at some point, come to an end. Cosgrove had always secretly dreamed of doing something like this. Giving McMahon what he deserves. By 2004 Cosgrove had organized many things with the help of some high-ranked names in the sports-entertainment world. McMahon had a slight awareness of what was going on but didn't take much notice of what was a gradually growing promotion. Within the next few years big steps for the company occurred and by 2006 it was officially registered as EWS - Elite Wrestling Society. No one announced anything, no one said anything but things were happening. Big names were becoming unhappy with WWE and TNA and seriously considered EWS. Cosgrove had the contacts and was already in talks with television companies for the future.
By 2007 Cosgrove had secured a television deal for 2008 and many superstars already signed to the roster; some big names also. The biggest names were Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels, AJ Styles, Chris Jericho and John Morrison. Towards the end of 2007, EWS had secured a roster for it's television deal and it was a damn good roster. Cosgrove had the respect of many in the business and literally poached some superstars from their companies and managed to get them to sign contracts. Cosgrove secured other on-air talent also, Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman to name a few. Eric Bischoff was named the General Manager and it is uncertain as to what Heyman will undertake. McMahon refused to acknowledge EWS, even when asked about it in interviews, he would simply reply, 'Next question.' and that would be the end of it. He was visibly uncomfortable and frustrated with EWS. It seemed like everything was going it's way, like stated earlier, like it was meant to be. Maybe Vince's time was up, maybe WWE's time was up. EWS secured television deal was opposing ECW and that was it's first goal, to beat ECW in the ratings. Although WWE's roster were somewhat deflated they still kept their three shows.
They were forced to push younger talents, which in someways was a positive for WWE; something they hadn't done in a while. Towards the end of 2007, EWS advertised a debut 'real' house show. This would crown the first EWS Champions and get it prepared for it's television debut on TV at 9PM on a Tuesday. EWS launched a website that showed the roster, pay-per-views and championships before the big night. EWS will debut on television January 1, 2008.

Weeks Leading up to Revolution
During the World Heavyweight Championship Match at EWS' Live Event, Randy Orton lastly eliminated Chris Jericho and AJ Styles. Jericho and AJ Styles proceeded to fight on the outside and both blamed the other for their elimination; potentially costing them the World Heavyweight Championship. On EWS' debut show, Eric Bischoff vowed to come to a conclusion as to who is the worthy #1 Contender. The two faced off on microphones in the last segment of the night and it soon came to blows as it became personal. Jericho and Styles knew exactly what buttons to push on the other and Bischoff was forced to break it up with the aid of security and referees. He announced that the next week it would be Styles taking on Jericho in a #1 Contender Match. Both men confidently smiled at the other as the show went off the air. The next week in the Main Event World Champion Randy Orton took a seat at ringside to watch the Main Event. The match went for more than fifteen minutes and ended in a double disqualification after both men were enraged and both were in possession of steel chairs and both swung at each other. Bischoff came down to the ring and entered, as did the Champion. Bischoff exclaimed that it was pathetic how they were acting and didn't know what to do. Both men were standing at this point. They both stood looking at Bischoff with Orton by his side. Both men gave their visions as to why they were the better man and in the end Bischoff announced a Triple Threat Match much to the disgust of Orton. Jericho laughed and attacked AJ until Orton broke it up and pretended to be on AJ's side until moments later AJ was face-down on the canvas after an RKO. Jericho saluted Orton for his actions but then he too was on the receiving end of an RKO. The next week people didn't know who the good guy was in this three way fight for the title. No one knew who to trust and all three men would perform actions that would make no one sure leading up to Revolution. The final EWS show before Revolution Jericho and Styles were forced to team up and take on two opponents of Orton's choosing; whom were The Major Brothers. Styles and Jericho were victorious and at the end of the match both stood in the ring accompanied by Orton who watched the match. All three men stared at each other and looked to leave when Jericho requested them to wait. Then out of nowhere he nailed a double Codebreaker on Styles and the World Heavyweight Champion Orton as EWS went off the air.
Matt Hardy and Elijah Burke began feuding over Hardy's Continental Championship after Burke defeated his other two opponents that competed in his losing effort at the Live Event to claim the Title. He declared himself a worthy contender and backstage Hardy claimed that he respected Burke's ability and rewarded him the title shot. He extended his hand for a handshake and Burke looked down at it and looked to accept but only teased it and whipped Hardy into backstage equipment and gave him some facial injuries. The next week; also the last before Revolution. Hardy returned with bruising on his face and a bandage on his forehead. He claimed that he was going to punish Burke for his unsportsmanlike acts and that at Revolution he would put him in a wheelchair. Burke came to the top of the stage and laughed at Hardy, saying if anyone was closer to being in a wheelchair it would was Hardy. He said EWS and the world should get used to it because the new EWS Continental Champion is going to be like that!
Ken-Co's Mr. Kennedy and Ken Doane had been disgusted with the result of their tag team title shot due to the fact they weren't in the ring when the wining pinfall was counted and have let Cryme Tyme, the champions, know about it. JTG defeated Ken Doane via disqualification on EWS' debut show after Mr. Kennedy interfered on Doane's behalf. The next week it was Shad versus Kennedy. Ken-Co cut corners yet again and attacked Shad backstage before the match and the match was canceled. Eric Bischoff announced that the next week it would be a No-DQ match between Shad and Kennedy. Shad as you would expect, defeated Kennedy quite easily and Bischoff then announced that Cryme Tyme would be defending the titles at Revolution. In a way Ken-Co were happy but seeing what Cryme Tyme are capable, they were scared at the same time.
John Morrison had been interviewed before EWS' debut show and claimed that he thought he was not as good as Shawn Michaels but better than arguably the greatest of all-time. Michaels didn't comment on the situation until that night when Morrison approached him in the locker room. Morrison claimed that they were almost identical but Morrison had the edge, Michaels didn't react in any untoward way, he just said, 'Good for you, kid.' 'Kid?' Morrison replied. 'I'm not a kid!', 'Well your voice makes you sound like it, run along.' Michaels fired back with. Morrison was infuriated with Michaels' remarks. '...' Morrison didn't even get to begin his sentence when Michaels butted in with, 'Look, John. I don't care, alright? You have a right to your own opinion and that's that. My opinion is you have an ego as big as the whiteness of your fake teeth and no accomplishments in the business to back it up. Run along.' 'You're telling me to run along?! At least I can run along! Get out your frame gramps!' Morrison replied. 'Look let's just end this now befor..' The Major Brothers then came from behind and attacked Michaels and Morrison joined in. 'You're nothing! You're overrated!' Morrison and the Majors then left leaving Michaels unconscious. The next week Michaels looked for Bischoff and demanded a match against Morrison but he couldn't get it because Morrison 'wasn't here tonight' so Michaels was put in a match with the next best things, The Major Brothers. Michaels lived up to his 'against the odds' style until Morrison ran in the ring and attacked him. The match ended in DQ and the three men continued the beat-down. The next week The Major Brothers were found in a dark area backstage unconscious by Morrison and that scared Morrison. He then heard a voice, 'I'm going to be mature about this John, I'm going to wait till our match to sort out our problems. That's right, our match. We have one. I've spoken to Eric.' Morrison fled. What Michaels didn't know during the last show before Revolution was Morrison had bribed Bischoff into making it a three-on-one handicap match. Will Michaels overcome the odds like he has many times in his career?
Kane and Jeff Hardy teamed up on EWS' debut show and all went well. Kane had defeated Ted DiBiase at the Live Event comfortably but made sure he put an exclamation mark at the end of it. He chokeslammed DiBiase again on the outside of the ring and to put it simply, went crazy. Hardy teamed up with Kane on EWS' debut show and took on DiBiase along with Cody Rhodes and defeated them. Although at the end of the match Hardy celebrated in the ring with Kane who suddenly nailed a massive chokeslam on the 'Rainbow Haired Warrior' and did his usual pyro taunt. Fans were confused as to what or why it happened. The next week Hardy came out and demanded an exclamation, he didn't get one. Instead the lights went out and fire came up through the turnbuckles. The fire stopped and the lights came back on with Kane in the ring, he simply nailed a deadly uppercut and performed another chokeslam on Hardy. Bischoff came out the next week and announced that the two were confusing him, especially Kane and he wanted them to sort their differences in an actual match. Thus, a hardcore match was announced for Revolution; Kane versus Jeff Hardy.
Matt Morgan made a big impact on his debut in EWS. In the first two weeks he beat his opponents in under a minute. The next week he was confronted by MVP who made some comments about him that he didn't appreciate. Morgan unleashed his rage towards MVP, whom was being himself, cocky. MVP fled and stated that Morgan would pay for his actions. He was put against Test the next week and defeated him in a back-and-forth match even though MVP interfered numerous times. Bischoff announced MVP vs Matt Morgan for Revolution also.
