Rey Mysterio?s quest to regain the World Championship may have suffered a severe setback in Santiago, Chile, on Wednesday night.

The injury occurred during Wednesday?s live event at Arena Santiago, where Mysterio teamed with Kane against Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins. During the tag contest, Rey suffered an apparent injury to his right arm ? specifically his bicep. Clearly in pain, the Master of the 619 gutted it out and finished the match, then was quickly examined by WWE athletic trainer Jason Crivello upon leaving the ring.

Mysterio flew back to the United States late Wednesday night, and is currently in Gulf Breeze, Fla., waiting to meet with world-renowned surgeon Dr. James Andrews, who will determine the extent of the injury. Regardless of Dr. Andrews? findings, Mysterio has his heart set on competing this Sunday night at No Way Out, where he is scheduled to face Edge for the World Championship.

Awe, after seeing their terrible Rumble match where they basically held back their entire moveset only to get ended controversially (thought that spear was awesome) i was hoping for them to go all out. Was really hoping Edge would do an electric chair drop too, he needs to bust that out every once and a while and Rey seemed like the perfect opponent.

Considering he has past history with Kane, they could easily throw him in the mix. A #1 contenders match and taker helps Kane or something would be good enough for me. But considering that Kane injured Edge and that Kane was Rey's partner when he got injured fuck that noise.

this is great news for CM Punk, especially since he's been tag teaming with Rey against Chavo and Edge.

I wonder kane because they never had their ppv match from GAB 07. And smackdown ahve all other faces apaprt from kane in nwo event so its kane. Unless big show comes back or matt hardy. But im gonig with kane.

Well I'd be surprised if it was Kane. Remember Vicky Guerrero is Edge's gf and she's the gm so I don't think she'd want to sick Kane on Edge. The only way it would happen is if Teddy Long somehow had the ability to make matches.

Edit: The Rey-Edge match was actually pretty good and slightly better than I thought it would be. As CMS said what do you think they left out. They both hit their finishers and I think they pretty much did everything pretty well.

But seriously, if Rey can't go, I'm guessing it'll either be Kane OR... Wait for it... Just a bit more... Almost there. MATT HARDY. The history is there between Edge and Matt. Edge wins the match, MVP complains on the next SD about Matt getting a title shot, and we once again continue with the MVP-Matt feud while Edge does his thing.

If Rey can't wrestle, they should just have Edge & Co. destroy him as soon as the bell rings, leaving him unable to wrestle (kayfaybe). Edge retains via DQ. That way they can pick up where they left of when he's fit again too and just chuck the extra match time at the EC matches.

Matt's return is an interesting idea, but IMO they'd be better opting for 'damage limitation'. (Not sure it wouldn't harm Matt's US title chase).

Shame, I think Rey/Edge had been pretty cool so far.
