For those of you who don't watch ECW (apparently that's a lot of you), you will have at least seen the artist formerly known as Matt Sydal on Raw this past week. The crowd reacted to him well, which some people may put down to Mysterio, but it is the norm for him on ECW. People seem to have really taken to his new style, as he's way different from anything else we see. So that raises the question: is Bourne about to become a main eventer on ECW?

He seriously can't be too far away from it. I mean, the crowd loves him. The bookers must like him, as he has been booked strongly. Promo skills aren't great, but they can be devoloped over on ECW. When you have a different style like he does, mic skills aren't really needed to main event ECW. So to me, once they build him up a bit more, he's good to go. He's already the number three face in the pecking order booking wise, so it isn't a big jump. I could see him, if not being in the ECW Title match at next WM, then in the MITB match. And ECW doesn't exactly get a lot of spots on WM.

So what do you think? Is Evan Bourne ready to move up to the main event soon?

Evan Bourne will always be second to Hardy/Finlay unless one is injured or gets moved. He will be a ME ECW man by WM25 but the WWE shouoldnt rush him. The fans like him in that Jeff Hardy sorta way and he wont need that much mic skills, and you can always get him a mouthpiece. I doubt he wont be in the MITB match in 2009, im sure hell be there.

Matt Freakin' Hardy has next to no mic skills either, yet he has secured himself a Main Event spot.

To be quite honest, I see Bourne as a faster, younger, stronger, and pretty much more talented than Rey Mysterio. Bourne is perfect for the ECW Main Event imo, going up against guys like Hardy, Henry and Morrison, those guys would mesh with his style well.

Bourne is the best high-flyer in the WWE without a doubt. some may say Rey, but when was the last time you saw Rey do some of the moves Bourne can. Not to mention he has the best SSP I have ever seen.

And SSP's are awesome.

To me like he's comparable to a next gen. Mysterio in any aspect I think of....

The crowd loves him and he's awesome in the ring so I see no real reason why WWE wouldn't push him.

Tbh, I don't want to see Bourne be in the ME scene.

I have shitloads of respect for the guys wrestling abilities but what most of you guys are failing to realise is he is gonna look like shit in the ME and would spend most of his ME matches getting the shit kicked out of him before he gets the upset win and if you don't beleive me, ask Rey Mysterio. I reckon upper midcard is the highest Bourne would be able to reach without being too much of an underdog and I know I am usually against superstars hanging around in the midcard for ages but I see Bourne as the type who could move to SD and be around the US title for a while.

Now I do have to admit, he is talented, he has a fanbase and he could be pushed to the ME if that's what WWE wanted but I'm am entirely 100% against it if they make him look like shit.

He is, but only if he can learn to cut a promo without sounding like a fucking geek. Sydal is a great wrestler, and his style is something new and fresh especially for the WWE, so he will get over no matter what. But if he is ever going to come close to the main event, he needs to be able to cut a promo first

Bourne is excellent. Between him and Morrison, they pretty much build the matches in ECW. With some mic work he could be the top face on ECW in no time. I would rather have him as ECW champion than Matt Hardy. He definitely had potential to go far in the business.

i think he could have a great feud with matt hardy for the title but i wouldnt have borne win it just yet. i would love to see him in a MITB match cause there are always amazing spots in that match imo and he could just add to it...

Whilst I agree with you it never really held Rey back did it?

Main event ECW"? Sure. Main Event wwe? Hell no.
Good face pops, good matches, and a decent crowd reaction... He has all that. But that's not a free pass to wrestling Cena, HHH, Batista, Edge, Taker, Show, Punk and Orton.
They need a guy like him to (once he's done on ecw) carry the midcard on Raw or SD, not be a main eventer, because IMO, he won't be a world champion in his career.

I think Evan Bourne has great potential, but it's a complete no for him to have a run with the ECW Championship, in my opinion. I mean, the writer's might think differently, but I think that it is too soon and would be a terrible booking move. The ECW Championship has already lost some credibility by having wrestlers such as John Morrison, Chavo Guerrero and CM Punk (at the time) hold the title because they had a lack of a build up to become a world champion. Espically John Morrison and Chavo Guerrero, who before moving to ECW were jobbing to RAW and SmackDown!'s main eventers and mid carders and I think that they rushed CM Punk's mid card career as in the very first title he won was a "World" title, but in the land of extreme, there really isn't any other option, besides that and possibly hunt for a SmackDown title, which I see as making no sense and taking away the value of the ECW brand and the concept of the brand extensions. So, no on Evan Bourne winning a "World" title, I mean really. He just debuted a few months ago and what has he really done? Nothing significant, enough to be a contender for a "World" title, but that is just my opinion, but in the eyes of a WWE creativer writer, Evan Bourne will probably be in a "World" title match in no time. tisk tisk What terrible writers, WWE has these days and what terrible decisions they make, too.
