Awful squad, group stage is the glass ceiling for them.

Jordan Henderson on standby?

There are defaintly some strange choices Henderson being one of them, he should be no way near the squad I agree. Downing I can't believe neither, have never been a big fan, but after the season he had I don't understand how he can be on the plane. Maybe Roy has a Liverpool fetish lol.

Thing about Rooney Dale, he is one of very few world class players that we have. It is a judgement call because if England went out in the group phase then the gamble would have backfired, but then if we went through it would surely justify the decission. Fact is you need your top players to have any chances of competing and that includes Rooney. Yes Gerrard is coming towards the end of his career, but he is another one I would put in the Rooney bracket and we do need experience to go with the youth, also Gerrard as captain is the right choice for me.

If anybody is at all curious as to what the current squads are for the 16 countries, they can be viewed here: UEFA Euro 2012 squads - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I know that it's Wikipedia and it can, at times, be unreliable, but I'm sure these are the announced squads. Seems a little strange for these to be fabricated.

Squads are to be finalised to 23 men by the 29th of May. Most will be trimmed by the looks, except for Spain's which will probably have a decent overhaul considering their squad currently doesn't include players from Chelsea, Athletic Bilbao or Barcelona due to the three clubs being involved in upcoming finals. Bayern Munich don't have any Spanish players in the first team.

Here's the last thing I said in my previous post:

But you're right, Germany has an awesome squad. Netherlands and France do too.

So what did people here think about Hodgson's first game?

It is hard to judge because Norway were so poor.

I was pleased with some of the football, thought that Caroll and Young had a decent understanding and it is always good to keep a clean sheet. Still should have scored more. It was a dull affair.

I will put up the first few fixtures for the prediction league over the coming week.

Gareth Barry is out of the Euros with the injury he picked up at the weekend. This is a big blow for England, he is one of our most consistant players is able to play in a number of positions
and gives the likes of Gerrard and Lampard more freedom. Phil Jagielka is his replacement.

Me, pretty shocking right? Sometimes I guess we don't know how lucky we have it in this country.

Was about to say Michael Carrick would slot in for him fine, but he's not even in the squad. Milner will be more than able to do that job if needed.

Have never been a big Carrick fan, yeah he had a good season, but don't think he is on the same level as the likes of Barry or Milner for that matter.

Frank Lampard apparently picked up a thigh injury in training. England are sending him off for a scan to see if it's going to keep him out of Euro 2012. Jordan Henderson has been put on standby.

This isn't a late April fools joke is it? If not then England's luck just went from bad to worse.

Surely no, Henderson, I will cry if Henderson gets in the squad, I'll personally assassinate him.

I really don't understand the hate on the squad?

Hodgson has built his team with what he's got, whilst thinking about the future in the likes of Ox and Welbeck. It's a decent squad, we as fans should just lower our expectations because France and Sweden are both tough.

On a different note, I think the most underrated player in the squad is Mr. Baines, in my mind he starts ahead of Ashley Cole.
