After watching Raw and ECW this week i heard both sets of commentators refer to the wrestlers as "Entertainers" instead of "Superstars". It honestly pisses me off that they changed it. I just hope that they dont call them it for too long. Has anyone else noticed it? How long do u think it will last?

It doesn't really matter to me. They've been changing a lot of things, and they're so miniscule, they don't affect my enjoyment of the product.

It won't dent my general enjoyment of the product as I've been watching long enough for a lot of stuff like this to just wash over me (see debate on the term "WWE Universe"), but to be honest, In the interest of kayfaybe, I would prefer it if they refered to them as "athletes"... "Superstars" would do, but "Entertainers" makes the guys sound like jugglers or sumthin'.

WWE announcers were informed to refer to talent as "entertainers" instead of wrestlers or Superstars. The change was made to re-establish WWE as an entertainment-touring event instead of a sporting event. By doing so would take the power away from the Athletic Commissions in certain states and keep the company from having to pay taxes on their events.

It looks like this will be a permanent thing. It kinda sucks imo, and degrades the wrestlers themselves. Oh well, it doesnt affect the product though I guess, it just makes it sound gayer overall. *sigh*

Away from the Athletic Commissions in some states? BRING BACK THE BARBED-WIRE MASSACRES, AND BRING ON THE DEATH MATCHES!

Superstars fits in and sounds a hell-of-a-lot better than Entertainer. But I'm still ticked off at Extremists to Superstars.

Why does it matter? They are superstars, they are entertainers, they are wrestlers and they are athletes.

It matters in Kayfaybe. Shouldn't they at least supposed to PRETEND to us that it's real?

im not asking them to call them athletes. i just dont like entertainers, like someone said above it sounds like its a circus or something. IMO it degrades it for me because i look at it differently. ill probably just mute it but i hate watching wrestling without sound.

but if it allows them to have barbed wire rope matches then i guess im all for it. too bad theyre pg

TBH i agree with Airfixx its not that important and most of the stuff they change i just think oh what the hell. At the end of the day i love WWE and will watch regardless. But i don't particulary like the word Entertainers as for me that means clowns jugglers etc. I much prefer the word superstars especially in the kayfabe sense of the show.

From a kayfabe point of the view, how the hell is the word "Entertainers" supposed to fit?! They're supposed to portray that wrestling is real, if I'm not mistaken, and because of that, it just seems that the words like "Athletes" would make alot more sense. Entertainers? To me, that just gives off the effect that their going out there, and outright saying, "This isn't real, our guys are just Entertainers".

By no means is this going to completly ruin wrestling for me though, it'll just annoy me abit, and give me something to rant about.

IMO it's really stupid but I'll still watch it. It most likely won't change the overall product, the storylines, etc. And if it does there's still TNA and from what I've been hearing is that Hogans wrestling promotion on CMT is pretty good.
