I don't see why. People are over-exaggerating because we didn't score like 10 goals, so what? I mean we could have scored 10 goals easy lol. Carrick smashed the bar, Welback smashed the post and missed a sitter, keeper made like 3 really good saves. If we played our normal football which is lob it in the box and hope for the best we probably would have scored that many, but that only would work against San Marino, if you played that against Germany we would get raped.

However, the style we played last night we will play in every game. Possession, pressing, short passes, creativity, etc. Wingers cutting in AND going wide crossing the ball, quick, it's great. Roy didn't change that, why would he? It was a style that got us over 10 real good scoring opportunities so it's a style that works. That's the style we ALL begged for at the Euro's right?

The positives from last night are Rooney finding a position that benefits everyone -- like he has now for United -- where he can assist AND score. Cleverely really becoming a regular and a star, Welback showing that he is the #1 striker in England (imo anyway) and the fullbacks like Baines and Walker putting on a great show offensively. Oh and guys like Oxlade Chamberlain who had a high amount of shots on target, scored one, and was really looking like a regular.

That's my mini-rant.

I don't even know why I'm bothered in the slightest like, I don't even support England :lol1: But Its laughable how teams like Montenegro can smash 6 past San Marino, Holland won them 11-0. I don't know why but England struggle to break teams down. Let's be serious they aren't even professional their manager is a P.E teacher. Can't wait till England verse someone with talent. :dawg:

Who are they going to try harder against, Montenegro or England at Wembley with 90,000 fans watching? Their formation was 5-4-1 but their 1 came back lmao. Rooney missed a couple sitters too, it should have been like 12-0, that's enough for me. 5-0 was fine.

You don't support England? :finger:.

Really hoping that Rooney finally performs on a regular basis for England now. For various reasons his only good tournie was 04, admittedly he's usually been marred by injuries and poor positional choices by management but he never really struck me as trying to bust a guy like he usually did. No doubt on talent he's our absolute best so I'm hoping he puts his best foot forward.

Agreed. Sir Alex Ferguson has saved his England career imo. International football is so different and Rooney needs to play CAM instead of a lone striker. He may score less, or he might even score more, but a not scoring Rooney who's involved in everything > a not scoring Rooney who only appears once a game.

I was shocked that he couldn't do well at the Euro's but then again the whole team were terrible so getting service into Rooney was pretty poor, but that season he was incredible for United so I expected big things. I do think he works incredibly well with Welback and Cleverley (naturally, being at United and being English) so that's a big help for Rooney with those two upping their game.

I do not support England. :pity: - I watch them but will never call myself a England supporter. I had a Germany flag for this WC.

I watched the highlights of San Marino & Montenegro in September and Marino basically sat back with 11 behind the ball at home. Just Montenegro broke them down and were more clinical in front of goal and tested the keeper more.

Either way, can't do anything about it now. :haha:
